Perhaps you are visiting this blog for the first time. Perhaps you picked up a free Bible from one of the businesses that was gracious enough to allow me to set up one of our free Bible boxes. You picked up a Bible and maybe you got questions like, "What's this all about?" Here's my answer: You didn't get this from some strange cult. There's so hidden agendas. You got a free whole Bible in the version known as the New American Standard Version, which is considered one of the most accurate modern versions of the Bible. If you don't believe me, go online and search this question," What is the most accurate version of the Bible?" One frequent answer will be the New American Standard Bible (NASB). The NASB has been around for decades and it is the version I started reading in the mid 1980s as a new Christian. It's a great study Bible and will help you get to know the Word of God. You also may be asking, "I got this for free. What's the catch?" There's no catch. I paid for this myself out of my own pocket. Why? To be brutally honest, this is the year 2023, and it is my opinion that our society is more and more losing its mind. So many people are looking for love in all the wrong places. They are searching for answers in all the wrong places. Too many people are depressed, filled with anxiety, are angry, etc. We got people mad at the world and deciding to pick up a gun and killing hundreds of innocent people that they don't even know. Some of us quite frankly feel all alone. Maybe you've been divorced or you aren't talking to your kids anymore because that relationship is strained at the present time. Maybe your bills are piling up and you are stressed out over money because milk now is $5 a gallon and gasoline is close to $4 a gallon , or you rent a small apartment and pay thousands of dollars a month. Maybe your health isn't the best and you struggle with that daily. Maybe you feel like the world is changing not for the better and you feel like you right now are on the losing end. Well, the reason you got this Bible is because within it are the answers to the most fundamental questions of life. Inside this wonderful book are the answers to who you truly are, who you were destined to be, who God is, who you are, what God expects of you, how much God loves you, and the repercussions of sin in this life and the next. "Sin?" you said. "You used the word 'sin'.' Yes I did. You see, sin is really one of our biggest problems. It leads to so many problems that we were never supposed to experience. While the Bible can be kind of a complicated book, it also plainly spells out one of its major themes, which is: Turn to God, turn away from sin, and you will see yourself suffering less from making foolish decisions. You see, sin leads me to treat my spouse like dirt. Sin leads me to be a bad example to my children. Sin leads me to turn to alcohol to deal with my unhappiness . Sin leads me to try to find happiness in habits like drug addiction and then I get hooked on meth, painkillers, etc. and then I'm a slave to them and lose everything else that matters in my life. Sin leads me to be dissatisfied with my wife because she gained 10 pounds and I decided to a cheat, which leads to me losing a woman who loves me, my kids, my house, etc. The truth is if I do what God wants me to do, my life will be a whole lot better off. It doesn't mean my life will be perfect. That is an unrealistic fantasy, for this life is far from perfect. But the truth is that God doesn't promise us paradise in this life but He does promise that He will be with us through it all if we live our lives on His terms, not ours. So, that's why you were given a Bible. It's the blueprint of life. It contains the answers to the most important questions that we all should be asking. Anyway, hope this gives you some answers to what this is all about.
